Ius Somnia
The Ius Somnia project (from the Latin “Right of Dream”) consists of a series of portraits of young people linked directly or indirectly to the theme of Ius Soli*. These are Italians without citizenship, just received citizenship or those who wanted to tell me their story.
The recurring element in all portraits is the presence of glass, a reflective surface placed in front of the photographed person creates a play of reflections on their faces. I decided to use glass because it fits perfectly with the theme I wanted to address - just a transparent, fictitious barrier.
*Ius Soli (in Latin "Soil Law") is a legal expression that indicates the acquisition of citizenship of a given country as a consequence of the legal fact of being born on its territory, regardless of the citizenship of the parents. In Italy only the Ius Sanguinis, the right to blood, is in force.
